Braves 6, Pirates 1

Stay connected for news and updates

The Pirates wasted another good start from A.J. Burnett, who struck out eight while allowing two runs over six innings. In the seventh, Tony Watson came on and gave up a single and two walks. Then Evan Meek entered and missed his spot badly on a fastball against Dan Uggla, who knocked it for a two-run double. Chipper Jones then followed that with a two-run, opposite-field single on another bad pitch by Meek. The Pirates' offense, meanwhile, did practically nothing, picking up just six singles, two of them by Alex Presley. Pedro Alvarez did draw two walks, which is nice to see.
