Ryan Dempster vs. A.J. Burnett, 7:05. Whatever problems the Pirates might have, the Cubs have it worse, having lost their last nine games and fallen into the NL Central cellar with a 15-29 record. Their offense and starting pitching have been reasonable, but their bullpen has failed them, with Carlos Marmol, Rafael Dolis and the since-departed Kerry Wood being the worst. That said, this is a good matchup for them -- Dempster has pitched well this year, and the Pirates' offense blah blah blah whatever.
Tomorrow's matchup features Paul Maholm and Kevin Correia (7:15). Matt Garza faces Erik Bedard on Sunday (1:35).
