Considering the way the Buccos have hit thus far this season, tonight's dramatic victory involving a walk-off hit batter, may not come as a surprise. The Corsairs have scored more than 5 runs in game just three times and they all took place in a four-game period between 4/30 and 5/3. On the other hand, they've only given up more than five runs 7 times on their way to a 3.26 ERA (4th best in the majors--who would have thought that in spring training?). In fact, the pitching staff hasn't picthed this well since 1992 when All-Star Doug Drabek was leading the staff and Tim Wakefield was just a rookie.
Let's give Matt Hague a big hand for his career highlight thus far. As Joey Kaufman reported, there have been only 58 game in the last 64 years which have ended with a hit batter.
