There have been some recent rumblings about the Rockies unloading Carolos Gonzalez. As we know, Cargo is one of the best young hitters in the game and for the Pirates to acquire him would an enourmous haul of talent. However, Cargo is exactly what this team desperately needs. An OF capable of playing all three positions who adds power to the middle of the lineup...and he is signed through 2017. So while the arguments about "mortgaging the future" may hold some water, having him in a Pirates uniform for 5 years certainly lessens those fears.
So here is what I think it will take to get Cargo: Marte, Cole or Taillon, Tabata, and a 2nd tier pitching prospect such as Owens, Locke, Lincoln, etc. What do you all think?
BTW- I would support this deal completely. "A bird in the hand (proven MLB talent) is better than 3 in the bush (very talented MiLB players who may or may not ever reach their potential)."
