Thanks to their doubleheader Sunday, the Phillies don't yet have a starter for Wednesday, and it's not because they have too many good-looking options. One possibility involves having Kyle Kendrick pitch a day early, but then they have to have other starters do that too. They could have a reliever make the start, but their bullpen has been shaky this year.
The most likely option, at this point, appears to be Tom Cochran, a 29-year-old lefty who has never played in the big leagues before. Then it will be Kendrick, who has allowed five or more runs in three of his last four starts, on Thursday.
