Altoona's Shairon Martis Traded To Twins
Altoona Curve announces #Pirates traded Class AA RHP Shairon Martis to #Twins organization
— Bill Brink (@BrinkPG) June 27, 2012
Martis is a 25-year old righthander who appeared in 20 major league games back as a youngster with the Washington Nationals in 2008 (5) and 2009 (15), 19 of which were starts. He signed with the Pirates as a free agent on Nov. 22, 2011 after being granted free agency earlier in the month. After starting the season in the Indianapolis bullpen, he was demoted to the rotation in Altoona. With the Curve he was 6-2 with a 4.52 ERA. He has work to do to ever make it back to the majors. With the Pirates moving players up through the system he was expendable. Expect nothing in return.
