According to Mlbtraderumors, the
Marlins are listening to offers on anyone, including Stanton. While they are more likely to extend him, If we were to overpay it might change their minds. And if there is one guy we are gonna overpay for it better be Stanton. He is only 22 years of age and aleady has 75 bombs to his name. He has also improved his OPS from last year to .919.
However, its not all dandylions and roses with Stanton. He is currently on the DL for yet another injury to his knee which could end up being a long term issue. I still wouldnt hesitate to put together a very good package like: Taillon, Marte, Hanrahan, Locke, Polanco, and Mercer? This makes sense for both teams as the marlins get an all star replacement for the dreadful heath bell, a top 10 prospect in Taillon, the #36 prospect rated by BA and also major league ready, a young, major league ready arm in Locke who could be a good number 4 or even 3, a top 100 prospect(probably in the 90's), and a decent SS spec with power.
Pirates Lineup:
1. Presley, LF
2. Walker, 2B
3. McCutchen, CF
4. Stanton, RF(Jones here till he comes back)
5. Alvarez, 3B
6. Mcgehee/Jones, 1B
7. Barajas/Fort, C
8. FREE OUT
9. Pitcher
That looks like a very good lineup to me and could get even better with Tabata, Grossman in the minors and if they ever replaced the free out with sutton.
Thoughts??
While on the MArlns, what kind of package would you give for Lomo or Anibal Sanchez? I would also like to acquire Randy Choate, he is the perfect veteran LOOGY we will need for the stretch.
