I'm new hear, so go easy on me. With that said, how good does an outfield consisting of Upton, McCutchen and Marte look? I know Upton seems to be slumping a little this year and Marte hasn't seen major league baseball yet, but just the sound of those three out there gets me excited. The big question obviously is how, if at all possible do we get Upton without selling our whole farm system. I don't have the answers, but i'm pretty sure it will definitely take a third team in need of some young arms. Back to the pirates, as you can see from the headline, I believe Marte should stay with and be brought up to the pirates. I like sutton, but his defense is getting real tough to watch, and presley is fun to watch, but I don't see him ever being announced as an everyday starter on any world series contending team. Jones has done alright in the outfield when asked to play, but he belongs in a platoon with McGee at first. With Upton, McCutchen and Marte in the OF, this team would instantly upgrade at defense dramatically, not to mention the power at the plate, and speed on the bases. Upton seems to be in a bad situation in Arizona, but he is a 24 yr old 5 tool player, which is hard enough to get as a rental, yet alone for a couple of years. I would suggest giving up either Taillon or Cole, along with lincoln, who could very well shine as a closer for another team and either Lock or Owens to make this happen. Let's just say it again, because it sounds so good, "Upton, McCutchen, Marte", If that's not enough to solidfy an OF, then your asking way to much. Another point could be that this OF would give Marte a chance to thrive as a new up and comer. I would imagine playing next to two guys who have have pretty instant success in the bigs would give Marte a sense of how to carry himself. Imagine, Marte leading off, then Walker, who seems to love playing in the new pirates spotlight, McCutchen, Upton, Alverez, despite his strike outs may hit 30 hrs and maybe even get 100 RBI's. I think we would be able to say that 4 out of 8 of the fielding positions would be solidified, maybe 5 if marte comes around early. I may be crazy talking about World Series contention, but that seems like a great fundation to take us there for the next three years.
