The Royals signed Jason Kendall to a minor league contract and he will report to AA and play tomorrow. Really? Kendall is 38 and last played in the majors in the 2010. The Reds recalled Xavier Paul who they recently signed after he was granted free agency by the Washington Nationals. Paul has been good in AAA this season posting a .918 OPS and hitting nine homers in 238 at bats. He pinch hit last night. The Chicago White Sox recalled lefthanded reliever Donnie Veal. I had reasonably high hopes for Veal. In 43.1 IP he posted 53 strikeouts in AAA this year. He appeared in 19 games with the Bucs in 2009.
