The Cubs are apparently close to shipping Ryan Dempster to the Braves. This is interesting for several reasons:
1) Dempster was a potential target for the Pirates, although not one they'd been connected to all that closely.
2) Dempster was scheduled to start against the Pirates on Wednesday, so whatever happens, that game is about to get more winnable.
3) This trade should help set the market for starting pitchers. It's not yet clear what the Braves will give up (though Randall Delgado is rumored to be involved), but I'll be interested to see what happens there.
