Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think I just saw a black cat. Miguel Batista, the last active member of the 1992 Pittsburgh Pirates, has just agreed to terms with the 2012 Atlanta Braves. The 41-year-old will be used in relief for the very team that banished the Bucs to losing column for 20 long, miserable, disastrous years. The same team that took a miraculous run of momentum and luck and turned it on it's head last year in a 19-inning heart-and-will-breaker. The same team that this Pirates squad is currently neck and neck with in the NL Wild Card race. The same team that the Pirates play for their final 3 games of the 2012 season. I try to resist superstition, but if Miguel Batista takes the mound with the season on the line in game # 162, I will be very, very uneasy. Then again, it would be a pretty dramatic way to break a curse.
