So I am watching the Giants/ Dodgers game today on Fox for some reason, and announcer # 1 (A-1) makes a comment about the Pirates being decent this year. He then talks about how last year the Bucs learned how to be a good team, and that they were building on that this year. Maybe I 'm just sleep deprived (my wife had a baby 8 days ago, and I have not slep more than three strait hours since), but I thought A-1's comments are moronic, and are symptamatic of the reason I don't read much about the Pirates outside of the Blogosphere. Does A-1 really think when Cutch hits a bomb it's because he has increased confidence that he built from last season's run? Is Pedro Alvarez not terrible because when he was down in AAA last year he drew inspiration from what the Bucs were doing?
So, anyway after A-1 was finished with his crap analysis, announcer # 2 chimes in with "And of course the Pirates have not had a winning season since 1992. Really? 1992 you say? Does he honestly think there is someone remotely interested in MLB who does not know the Pirates have had 19 strait losing season? Tonight, Wandy Rodriguez could throw a perfect game and hit four home runs, and the game summaries would say something about the streak. I want the streak to be over so the media can move on to other important things like whether the Dream Team could beat the 2012 Olympic team.
