In response to my query yesterday, Brian Cartwright described Alex Dickerson and Matt Curry as "fringy" prospects. (He was suggesting that their chances to be starters in the show were not great.) I thought that was an interesting observation given some of the attention paid to them recently. I thought it would be fun to look at their performances thus far in comparison to young players who have had some success in the majors. I used minor league statistics through AA for comparison, as neither Dickerson nor Curry have played above that level.

Paul Goldschmidt seems to have played at another level, which seems consistent with some of his major league numbers. (Visalia is a launching pad, so his stats are probably inflated a bit.) My take on these numbers is a bit more optimistic than Brian's, but they certainly do not give cause to say he was wrong.
I've seen Dickerson play and think his bat has to carry him. Who can add something about Curry? Who else should be in the comparison?
I've seen Dickerson play and agree
