The Pirates have demoted Jose Tabata, as expected, and promoted Gorkys Hernandez.

As I indicated before, I would have liked to have seen Starling Marte here, but perhaps the Pirates know something we don't. They may just be waiting until the All-Star break is over. Hernandez is pretty much a pure defensive sub, so this move doesn't do much to prevent Drew Sutton from starting in the outfield, which almost certainly isn't going to do work in the long term. As for Tabata, hopefully he can make the best of this situation and return a different player.
