Just spoke with another #Pirates official here at PNC Park ... There is ZERO question of his readiness. It's about corner outfield and about not having a long pause immediately after he arrives. This person said Marte's performance at the plate right now is "through the roof." Marte has made several starts in left but the one Monday was his first.

It's pretty surprising to me that the corner outfield thing has anything to do with it, since it's not exactly a secret that the Pirates have a pretty good center fielder. The Bucs could easily have had Marte start playing the corners last year, or this April. Also, my guess is that the move from center to a corner would be trivially easy for a player like Marte.
