The reaction to the Snider-Lincoln trade seems to be similar on both sides. I don't think either side really knows what they're getting, so I'll just give a few of my thoughts on Snider.
First of all, and least importantly, he's a class act. He works hard, never complains, despite how he has been treated within the Jays organization, and he will quickly become a fan favourite. Trust me on that.
Travis Snider is all about potential. We've seen glimpses of greatness, followed by slumping. The problem though, is whenever he hit a slump, he was sent back down to the minors. Snider was never given an extended look in the Majors to work through his problems and adjust. He'd be sent back to AAA where he would demolish the pitching, before being called back up again. This happened several times and it angered a lot of us fans. Watching Juan fucking Rivera and Corey Patterson in the outfield while Snider toiled in the minors simply baffled us.
Snider is a plus defender. In his 10 games since finally being recalled, he's made 3 highlight reel catches. He has speed, nothing exceptional, but he can play CF if needed. His arm is good, not great, but good.
Hitting-wise he's more of a power hitter than anything. He strikes out...kind of a lot. He generally doesn't hit lefties well, but his 3 home runs this year have all been against lefties (he had only 2 home runs against lefties previously in his career).
It seems Travis Snider is on the brink of a break-out season with All-Star potential. As a Blue Jays fan, I am deeply saddened that our organization gave up on him, for whatever reason.
Hope this helps anyone who isn't familiar or is hesitant about the trade. I truly believe you have gotten a wonderful player that will help you for years to come.
