Bob Nightengale of USA Today says that Stephen Drew will be traded today. Personally, I think he would be a great pick up for the Pirates and really help out the bottom of the order. He is owed about $4.4 million between the remaining portion of his salary and his $1.35 million buyout for next year (I doubt most teams would pick up the $10 million option).

The key for me is that Drew is left handed and his bat should play really well at PNC. He doesn't hit lefties all that well but that would allow Hurdle to still use Barmes against lefties. If the Pirates were to acquire Stephen Drew I'm not suggestion a straight platoon rather keeping Barmes somewhat in the mix.

This is just something that we should keep an eye on as the day goes by
