I couldn't help but be a little annoyed watching Gorkys Hernandez run out onto the field friday night. The Giants are legitimate contenders in the west and our outfield consisted of two triple A players. When will our upper level management make a move to fix our greatest need which is a bat in the outfield. Marte may be a future solution but that only fills one of the two open slots. Tabata is incredibly inconsistent and Presley is a wildcard with the head injury. We can beat the Cubs and Astros with the team we have but, the Dodgers, Giants, Mets, and Nationals are all more talented offensively. Consistency is the name of the game and until Huntington brings that to the corners of the outfield I do not know how long we can keep up with the big boys. On a brighter note, Neil Walker is tearing the cover off the ball which is a legitimate solution from within if he continues to do so well. I think if we add one legitimate outfield piece we can get to the next level. If the Pirates are serious about being a contender they should make a bold move. I think that Carlos Gonzalez could be that move. Yes 7 years 80 million is a scary contract but if you pair him and McCutchen together that would put the pirates in world series contention not just playoff contention. Marte, McCutchen, and Gonzalez would be the best outfield in the bigs.
