Trade rumors, people! Rob Biertempfel has more on the trade rumors connecting the Pirates to Justin Upton and Carlos Quentin.
I've heard D'backs and Padres might have some degree of interest in #Pirates RHP Brad Lincoln as part of deals for Upton/Quentin. Dbacks offered Upton to Pirates and have sent scout to Triple-A Indy to start compiling wish list. Padres sent scout to Low-A West Virginia.
Obviously, Lincoln wouldn't be a key piece in an Upton deal. The Diamondbacks scouting Indianapolis might mean they're interested in Starling Marte, who's really the only big-time prospect there.
As for West Virginia, Alen Hanson is too much to give up for a rent-a-player like Quentin, so I'd expect players like Willy Garcia, Nick Kingham and perhaps Gregory Polanco could be in play. But who knows. I would think that the Pirates would be pretty reluctant to give up a toolsy player like Polanco for a rental, even a good one like Quentin. Pure speculation here, obviously -- I'm just trying to guess what the Padres might be thinking.
