The time is now for NH and the Pirates to call up Gerrit Cole!

I know there will be a lot of fans who think that I am crazy but if the Pirates want any chance at all to make the playoffs this is their only option. James McDonald is falling apart, his arm is simply not use to this many innings and I think that the Pirates needs to shut him down for a couple of starts...........2 at the most just to give his arm the break that it needs.

Just a few months ago if McDonald was able to pitch 7 innings this was a cause for celebrations. McDonald has not been the same after the all star break.

Cole is our best pitching prospect and I know that it is hard to jump from AA all the way up to the majors but it has been done and Cole can do it.

We have lived off our bullpen for too long. Those guys are taxed and losing Brad Lincoln hurt but NH had to bring in a bat and I like the addition of Snyder.

Cole can be put in the bullpen with Justin Wilson and give Hurdle a very dominant 1-2 punch from both sides of the plate. Look at the advantage that the Reds have when they get late into ball games. Our bullpen needs the infuse of young talent and I fear that we will not make the playoffs unless something drastic happens to give these guys a break.
