My son and I are coming to Pittsburgh for the Weds night/Thurs afternoon game this week. We've already ordered our tickets and planned the trip out. However, we have yet to locate any accommodations for the trip. I was hopeful to get some help from some local residents there.
We will be making the 4.5 hour drive from York County PA and are looking for a place to stay somewhere on/near 376 on the east side of the city. I've found a lot of hotels near the ballpark that are ridiculous in price and am trying to find a nice, affordable place to stay that Weds night. If there are any local resident who could give me a recommendation, it would be much appreciated. Also, if anyone had recommendations on where to park or any shuttle to/from the game, I'd value that information as well.
I used to make the drive out to Three Rivers 5-6 times per year during my college years in the late 90s, but haven't been able to make it back nearly as regularly ever since thanks to the distance and the presence of young kids. Typically, when I have made it PNC several years ago, it's been with a group and haven't had to worry with parking/hotels.
Having watched nearly every game at home this year with my oldest son, I felt like the time was right to break my drought of going out to Pittsburgh for a game. Typically, I just take him to Philly/DC/Baltimore when the Pirates are in town, since that can be done in a single-day trip.
Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!
