With the off day, I can say the Pirates currently sit at 60-44. Leaving us with 58 games in the 2012 regular season. With all attention being given to wildcard and playoff scenarios I wanted to take a look at what would mean more to the fans. With 58 to go, the Pirates will need to go 21-37 to finish 81-81 or to finish the season with a .500 record. Not much more difficult to figure out, the Pirates need to go 22-36 to finish 82-80 or to finish the season with a "winning" record.
My question is simple. Regardless of the outlook of this season, if we had gone back to the start of the year and I had asked you this question, which means more to you, an 81 win season or an 82 win season? Both end the streak of "losing" seasons but an 81 win season leaves the door open for those to say we haven't had a "winning" season in some 20 years.
I mean no bad ju-ju from this post. So here is to a no jinx no jinx no jinx.
UPDATE: As you all vote, I forgot to pose this question. What game would you rather be at, win number 81 or 82. Which will you be cheering more for when it happens. I think I'll be more on the edge of my seat for win 81 although I think I would rather more see win 82.
