Mark Rogers and Erik Bedard, 1:35. Hisanori Takahashi has been added to the roster; Chad Qualls has been placed on the DL with "irritation of left big toe," whatever the heck that is. I think it's probably doctor-speak for "terrible at pitching."
You'll probably have a chuckle at this for any number of reasons, but the Pirates might be doing this in preparation for the playoffs. Since Qualls will still be on the DL come August 31, he'll be eligible for the Pirates' playoff roster, along with Takahashi and everyone else who's currently on the active roster.
