Starting in 2014 the new ESPN deal will add about $13 million to the pockets of every major league team ... annually. As Craig Calcaterra notes, the FOX and TBS deals could eventually bump that number up to $40 million.
This is a gold mine for MLB owners. One that, I'm guessing, wasn't easily foreseen five years ago, but certainly has come into focus the last few years with the massive local deals that individual clubs have recently signed.
Ka-ching. We'll see how this effects the competitive landscape, but it's hard to see how both the owners and players don't come out big winners.
