I didn't get to watch the game today because I was at Turner Field watching the Braves beat the Nats, but I was checking the out-of-town scoreboard the whole time. It got pretty knotty at the end, but the Pirates finally ended their losing streak, beating the Cubs 7-6.
The Pirates scored in the first and second, and Andrew McCutchen made it 3-0 with a solo homer in the third. The Bucs then went up 6-1 in a fourth inning keyed by a triple by Starling Marte.
The Cubs crawled back into it, and after Jason Grilli allowed a run in a messy eighth, it was 7-4. Joel Hanrahan came on in the ninth and immediately allowed a double and a walk. Alfonso Soriano singled in a run, and Hanrahan issued two more walks, the latter of which brought in a run. Finally, though, Hanrahan struck out Dave Sappelt to end it, leaving the bases loaded. Phew.
