Rob Biertempfel (check the update at the end of the piece) says the Pirates will move their NY-Penn League team to Jamestown, and it appears they'll move the team to Morgantown, perhaps in 2014, or as soon as WVU can open its new baseball facility in University Town Centre.
As a former resident of and a frequent visitor to Morgantown, this is fantastic for me, although, as I've written before, there's no one in Morgantown during the months in which the NY-Penn League season is played. In any case, though, it will be an easy trip south for Pittsburgh-area fans to catch the Pirates' latest draftees, so we hardcore fans are big winners here. Assuming this all goes through, of course. In the meantime, they'll be playing in Jamestown, which was affiliated with the Marlins last year.
It also sounds like the Pirates weren't particularly interested in staying in State College, judging from the rest of Biertempfel's blog post.
