Ben Badler Has Different Take on Pirates' Farm System

29

Tim summarizes some twitter comments from Baseball America's Ben Badler, who doesn't seem to share the view of the Pgh. media that the farm system is a disaster. His take seems to be that the drafting hasn't been great, but the system is still a good one. That's my view of it. The real issue with this front office isn't SEAL training and skeet shoots. It's whether the drafting is good enough and whether the current GM is able to put together a good team at the major league level. It'd be nice if we could cut through the hit-generating media hysteria and personal vendettas to focus on those questions. Oh, and check out the note at the bottom about Vic Black hitting 99 mph in instructionals. Can't tell whether he did that with or without the telephone pole.
