Not sure how good Pagliarulo will be as a hitting coach, but he is a total class individual. He was a player with the Yankees when I was in high school in Connecticut. One of my friends was a big fan of his, so I followed his career.
In 1992, he was rehabbing in A ball where I was umpiring. When big leaguers were down on rehab, they usually ignored umpires & most of their teammates. Pags was a total class individual. He showed respect to myself (not a very good umpire) and was like a coach to teammates.
Wish him great success in Pittsburgh and glad the organization is hiring class people.
