OK, so the Cardinals didn't do much this winter, and the Brewers worked on upgrading the bullpen via signing ex-Pirates. So what have the Cubs been up to? Lots and lots, it turns out. They've essentially rebuilt their pitching staff. Seriously. You know who Jackson, Villaneueva, Feldman, and Baker are. Add to that Jeff Samardzija, Travis Wood, and Matt Garza, and you have the makings of a decent rotation. With Carlos Marmol, Kyuji Fujikawa, James Russell, Shawn Camp, Michael Bowden, Carlos Villanueva and Hector Rondon, the bullpen might be OK.
Good leadership in the front office plus lots of money. These guys scare me. You?
And I don't understand how Lillibridge and McDonald had to settle for minor league contracts. Both had nice years.
