MLB.com lists its top 10 shortstop prospects, and Alen Hanson is at No. 8. That's more impressive than it might initially seem, since many top players who wind up playing other positions start their careers at shortstop.
Jurickson Profar and Francisco Lindor top the list; top overall 2012 draft pick Carlos Correa is at No. 5. Jonathan Mayo notes that Hanson has had defensive issues and could wind up at second, although he could well stick at his current position.
Mayo earlier included Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon in his list of baseball's top righty pitching prospects.
