He's been running a baseball consulting business and has ties to new front office hire Bill Livesey. Ryan is the former outfielder who played a year at Indianapolis and spent last year as a player/coach (which basically means coach unless there's an emergency) in the Pirates' organization. Merced you've probably heard of.

On the whole, it strikes me as a group with quite a bit of playing experience, including in the majors.
