TEAM MEETING

Neal Huntington: Thank you for coming. Let’s get this meeting started. If you would please take a seat . . .. Guys? Can we have order?

AJ: SIT THE FUCK DOWN!

Everybody sits quietly

NH: Um, thank you AJ. First, let me say, that this was a fantastic year of baseball. I believed in you guys and you really came through. What a wonderful thing you have done for the City of Pittsburgh and Major League Baseball. I am very proud of all of you and you should all be proud of yourselves. Everybody contributed. We intend to pretty keep the team together and next year bring the World Series championship back to Pittsburgh.

Raucous cheers fill the room.

NH: So anyway, I was looking at P2’s future payroll commitments and decided it would be a good way to look at our roster going forward. I am trying to build a team that our fans will love and that will win consistently for many years to come. We need to realize however that I am not Magic and I cannot just throw money around like the Dodgers. What I mean is, that even though you may be a huge contributor to the Pirates on the field, for many of you, I may need to trade you someday. It’s just the economics of the game.

I won’t make any trades just to off-load salary. I want the best possible return because I truly value each of you. When the time is right, I will be looking for quality pitching and infield depth. I want a clear upgrade to our big league club or high ceiling prospects.

Everybody with me? Ok, here we go.
