2014 SBN Simulation - First Foray Into Madness

Don't ask me why, guys, but I agreed to fill the role of Pittsburgh Pirates GM for the SBN simulation of the 2014. We will see how this goes. I am most certainly welcoming any and all suggestions for trade proposals or free agent signings, things like that, but here is what I know,

1) Morton's extension won't happen, because we are by rule putting every arb-eligible player into either the "tender" or "non-tender" bucket, and everyone who gets tendered will only be offered a one year deal. I more or less offered every tendered contract as a 20% raise, except for Morton, Alvarez and Melancon who will be offered 3.5, 2 and 1.5 mil, respectively.

2) For free-agents, my version of the Pirates will be making a qualifying offer to Burnett, and the same one year deal to Barmes but with a mutual option for a second year at 3 mil. Maybe - this may get axed by the "no re-signing your own players unless they are 28 or younger" rule.

3) Seattle came to me asking about a deal centered around Marte-for Franklin, but backed out before any real discussion happened.

4) LAA has made an inquiry about some portion of Locke, Morton, Cole, Cumpton or Taillon for some portion of Trumbo, Bourjos, Calhoun or Cron. I am mulling it over but not expecting anything amazing - let me know if you have any ideas (and yes, I mean mulling over giving him some combination of Locke and Cumpton for... whatever)

More updates to come, but please toss in your feedback and rec to keep it fresh!
