Thought I'd share an interesting trade idea - the Pirates ideal trade target should be Jose Bautista, and they could possibly do so without giving up Taillon or Polanco. Joey Bats could start the year in RF, and move to first once Polanco is deemed ready. Bautista is signed to an affordable contract, though he is coming off an injury filled year. Toronto may cut bait due to health uncertainty for the right price. That same uncertainty is a gamble for the Pirates, but it also drives the price down. Bautista has already been mentioned in rumors this offseason, so why not get in the race? A package of Hanson, Kingham/Glasnow, and one other lesser prospect(Jeff Locke?)might be enough. Taillon and anyone else might be enough as well, due to his Canadian heritage, but in this fantasy scenario the Bucs hang on to their top two. I know he's not left handed, but that's not really a concern when he's a healthy 50 homer beast.
He's affordable, possibly trade-affordable, solve's the RF/first base/power problem(caveat - if healthy), and signed semi-long term!
Take some flyers on some lottery ticket pitchers(Johan Santana?) and call it an offseason!
What say you all?
