Marlins agree to terms with Garrett Jones

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

The Marlins have agreed to terms with Garrett Jones on a two-year, $7.5 million deal. This is good for Jones, in that he's found exactly the right image-conscious city to appreciate his good looks. (Had Jones arrived a few seasons earlier, maybe he could have played Gabriel on Dexter.) But it's also bad, in that he has to play for the Marlins.

Jones leaves Pittsburgh behind after hitting an even 100 homers here. Jones' defensive deficiencies make him a frustrating player, but let's tip our cap to him -- his performance was a clear highlight of the Bucs' rough 99-loss 2009 season, and he played well in 2012 also.

Jones' arrival in Miami likely makes Logan Morrison a trade candidate.
