I’ve heard him described as Starling Marte’s "childhood idol" several times and Marte was excited about the prospect of playing in the Dominican Winter League with Vlad – although Guerrero was incredibly unproductive in that league and asked for his release after a handful of games.
Guerrero would certainly be of more worth to a team in the AL but, seeing that he was still productive in 2011, is a veteran, and could feasibly be a reliable pinch hitter, I think he makes an interesting acquisition. With interleague play peppered into the schedule this season, he might also see some DH opportunities throughout the year if he signed with an NL club.
