Four winners on Sunday:
-- Gerrit Cole had another early exit, his third in four starts, but Indianapolis held on for a 2-1 win over Louisville. Cole lasted just four innings despite allowing only one hit and no runs. The problem was, he walked five and threw 85 pitches, 49 of them for strikes. Brooks Brown followed, allowing one run over three innings and hitting a double that keyed the winning rally. Vic Black threw two scoreless innings for the save, allowing just a walk and fanning three. Jordy Mercer went 2-3 with a walk and is now hitting .323. Brandon Inge went 1-3 and is now hitting .158. -- Altoona beat Harrisburg, 4-1, behind a strong start from Casey Sadler. He allowed the one run in seven innings, on just four hits and a walk. He struck out four. Jose Contreras, pitching on consecutive days, threw a scoreless inning. Jason Townsend picked up the save with a scoreless 9th. Andy Vasquez, who seems to have hit his way into the lineup, went 2-4. Matt Curry hit his third HR.
-- Bradenton picked up its third straight walkoff win, scoring four in the bottom of the 9th to beat Jupiter, 4-3. Alen Hanson capped a 4-5 game with a one-out, bases loaded double to record his second walkoff hit in the series. Dan Gamache and Carlos Mesa each went 2-4, with Gamache adding a double. Robby Rowland started but lasted only four and two-thirds. He gave up three runs on seven hits, including two HRs. He walked none and fanned five. Zac Fuesser threw two perfect innings, striking out three, to pick up the win.
-- West Virginia got some payback after being crushed twice in a row by Hagerstown, winning 11-2. Josh Bell went 4-5 with his second HR and four RBIs. Walker Gourley went 4-4 with a double and a walk, and is now hitting .359. Stetson Allie went 1-4 with a walk and three strikeouts. Barrett Barnes went 1-4 with a double and a walk. Orlando Castro started and allowed one run over five innings. Ryan Hafner followed with two scoreless innings, allowing just a hit batsman and fanning two.
