Pimentel aces first test, Allie HR gives Power a walkoff win

Stolmy Pimentel threw six shutout innings in his first Pirate outing and Kris Johnson led Indianapolis to a shutout win, while a Stetson Allie walkoff HR gave West Virginia its first win

Sunday's action:

-- Kris Johnson and two relievers led Indianapolis to a 3-0 shutout of Columbus. Johnson, a former supplemental first round draft pick of the Red Sox, went five innings, allowing six hits and two walks, while fanning five. Ryan Reid and Vic Black each threw two scoreless innings. Black allowed two hits and struck out one. Brandon Inge, still playing second, picked up the first two hits of his rehab, going 2-3 with a walk and a HR. Matt Hague went 2-3 with a double.

-- Stolmy Pimentel made his first start for the Pirates since being included in the Joel Hanrahan trade. He went six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk, and fanning four. Altoona still lost to Erie, 5-2, as Jason Townsend gave up five runs in the 7th. Four were unearned due to errors by Townsend and utility man Andy Vasquez, who was giving shortstop Gift Ngoepe a rest. (All the affiliates went with "Sunday lineups.") Vasquez had three errors in the game. Both Altoona runs came on an inside-the-park HR by Alex Dickerson. It was the second day in a row on which Erie center fielder Daniel Fields got hurt on a play and gave the Curve an inside-the-parker. The Curve had only three hits, including a double by Adalberto Santos, who went 1-3 to drop his average to .429. And, no, it's not time to launch #freeadalberto. It has to be a minimum two weeks into the season.

-- Bradenton came back from a 6-0 deficit to tie its game with Fort Myers, 8-8, in the 8th. The Marauders, though, lost 9-8 when Zac Fuesser gave up a longball in the top of the 10th. Starter Adrian Sampson got knocked out in the 3rd. He went 2.2 IP, allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits and a walk, striking out two. Sampson is making a tough jump to high A in his first full year after being drafted out of junior college, so this isn't exactly something to panic over. Alen Hanson went 2-6 with a double and Gregory Polanco drove in three with a sac fly and his first HR of the year. Jacob Stallings became the first player in the organization to hit his second HR. He also had a double, single and walk in four ABs, and is hitting .600. Willy Garcia and Dan Gamache went 2-5. Bradenton had three errors, with Gamache committing his fourth and Hanson his third in just the four games

-- West Virginia staged a more successful comeback, beating Asheville, 6-5, on a two-out walkoff HR in the 11th by Stetson Allie. The Power fell behind 4-0 early, as starter John Kuchno struggled. He lasted only three and a third, allowing five hits and four walks, leading to five runs, four of them earned. He fanned four. Jason Creasy followed with two and two thirds scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Pat Ludwig bailed Dave Jagoditsh out of a bases loaded, no out jam in the 9th, and went on to pitch three scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed just one hit and fanned three. Allie and Eric Wood each went 2-5 with their first HRs. Wood, however, missed a chance to end it in the bottom of the 9th when he fanned with the bases loaded and one out. Walker Gourley went 3-5 with two doubles.
