According to a new baseball rule . . .

teams are allowed to add an extra player for doubleheaders, i.e. have a 26 man roster. It must be the same player for both games, and that player must return to the minor leagues the next day.

Last time the Yankees called up Corban Joseph was called up from Triple-A, he spent two days on the roster without getting in a game. This time he’ll be on the roster for one day, and he’ll play in two games. SoJoseph is with the Yankees for a few hours, and then he’ll be back in Triple-A.

I know few of you care about the Yankees, but I thought this is a fascinating new rule. The Bucs have a double header scheduled with the Cards on Tuesday, July 30 at 4pm and 7pm. I am guessing that is a two for the price of one affair. It is still a long way off, but I wonder who will get the call?
