Cole pitches well, Pimentel gets bombed

Gerrit Cole recovered from a rough first inning to pitch well through six, but Stolmy Pimentel's slump continued

Saturday's roundup:

-- Indianapolis lost to Buffalo, 2-1. Gerrit Cole pitched well, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out four. He got off to a shaky start, allowing singles to the first three batters he faced, then later walking two, but he got out of the 1st inning with just the two runs allowed. He gave up only one more walk afterward. Duke Welker ended a string of poor outings with a 1-2-3 7th. The Indians had only three hits: a single and triple by Brett Carroll, and a double by Jared Goedert.

-- Stolmy Pimentel had his fourth straight bad start as Altoona got trounced by Richmond, 12-5. Pimentel gave up eight runs, four earned, on seven hits and three walks in 4.2 IP. He struck out three. Gift Ngoepe went 3-5 with a double and Drew Maggi 2-4.

-- Hard-luck Eliecer Navarro (pictured) fell to 0-9 as Bradenton dropped a 1-0 game to St. Lucie. Navarro gave up five hits and two walks in 6.2 IP, while fanning four. The Marauders had just two hits, singles by Elias Diaz and Chris Lashmet. Gregory Polanco went 0-4 and Alen Hanson got the day off.

-- West Virginia got another good outing from Joely Rodriguez and beat Lakewood, 2-1. Rodriguez gave up the one run on six hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out five. Kyle Haynes struck out two in a scoreless 9th for his third save. The Power got its two runs on a pair of back-to-back doubles, one by Josh Bell and Stetson Allie, the other by Walker Gourley and Raul Fortunato. Bell and Allie each went 1-3. Dilson Herrera went 0-3.
