Lambo, Harrison go deep

Indianapolis played longball to beat Rochester, while two other games got suspended

Lots of games scheduled today, but fewer completed.

-- This is a test. Read this recap of Indianapolis' 5-2 win over Rochester and see whether you can spot the position player who is not better than Brandon Inge. (*Answer at bottom.) Kris Johnson allowed just three hits and two walks in seven innings, although one of the hits was a two-run HR by Jeff Clement. Johnson fanned four. Jose Contreras had a 1-2-3 8th. Erik Cordier allowed the last run in the 9th, giving up two hits and two walks. Josh Harrison (pictured) led off the bottom of the 1st with his fourth HR. The rest of the Indians' runs scored on a pair of two-run HRs, Andrew Lambo's fifth and Chase d'Arnaud's third. Lambo's AAA numbers, including his BB/K ratio, are now a little better than his AA numbers. Matt Hague went 2-4 and Jose Tabata went 0-2 with two walks.

-- Altoona's game against New Britain was suspended with the Curve trailing, 3-0, after two. Casey Sadler gave up a three-run HR. Gregory Polanco remained out of the lineup, apparently with a bruised shoulder from a diving catch on Saturday.

-- Bradenton got shut out by St. Lucie, 4-0. Matt Benedict gave up three runs, one earned, on nine hits in six innings to fall to 0-8. The Marauders left 13 runners on base. Alen Hanson went 1-5 and Stetson Allie 0-3 with two walks. Willy Garcia followed his 6-6 outburst by going 0-4 with three strikeouts.

-- West Virginia eased to a three-hit, 6-1 win over Hagerstown. Clay Holmes had a good news, bad news start. He allowed just two hits and one run in four innings, but he walked four and struck out three. Ryan Hafner threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. Walker Gourley went 3-3 with a walk, and Dilson Herrera and Francisco Diaz were each 2-4 with a double. Barrett Barnes went 1-4 with a walk and Josh Bell 0-3 with a walk. Max Moroff went 0-1 with three walks, leaving him with 44 walks in 61 games.

-- Jamestown's game with State College was suspended with the Jammers trailing, 2-0, after an inning and a half. Cody Dickson, making his second pro start, allowed two runs, one earned, in one inning. He gave up one hit and one walk, and fanned one. Jamestown had four hits in two innings, but didn't score, thanks in part to a runner being picked off second.

-- The GCL Pirates beat the Blue Jays, 3-2. Lefty Cesilio Pimentel, who's one of the more interesting pitchers on the team, lasted two and two-thirds, giving up two runs, one earned. He allowed three hits and a walk, and fanned none. Oderman Rocha got the win by throwing three and a third scoreless innings, giving up four hits and no walks, and fanning three. Cameron Griffin, drafted in the 23rd round this year, made his pro debut with a scoreless inning, although he walked two. Justin Maffei and Luis Urena each went 2-4 with a triple, and Candon Myles also went 2-4. Trae Arbet went 0-2, both strikeouts.

-- The DSL Pirates1 beat the Marlins, 4-2. Starter Jose Regalado gave up a run on two hits and no walks in five innings, fanning seven. Rodney Polonia had three hits, and Yunelky Adames, Pablo Reyes and Reggie Cerda each had two.

No results were available for the DSL Pirates2.
