When the BUCz acquired Travis Snider I thought he was a Presley clone and not an upgrade at all. A look at this year's performance shows that in fact Presley may be the better option.
I went to the Pirate official site and looked at the sortable player stats.
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI AVG OBP SLG OPS
Alex Presley 11 37 5 11 1 0 2 2 .297 .297 .468 .784
Travis Snider 25 70 6 12 1 0 1 6 .171 .247 .229 .475
Alex was sent back to the minors and did not play in July, and Snider's stats are about the same as in June so far this month.
Why is Presley still in the minors and Snider is still up in the ML not helping this team at all? Presley has proven over the past two years that he has much more power than Snider, runs better (Snider is overweight) and can steal bases.
Can anyone explain why Snider is given this long a chance when Presley can do a better job? This is the Pros. Results count. It is frustrating to me. I understand you may have to cut Snider, but he is not the long term solution, so what do you have to lose?
