In case you missed it yesterday, there's a nice piece in yesterday's Beyond the Box Score talking about Gerrit Cole, his strikeout rate and his BABIP relative to some other pitchers who are emphasizing pitch-to-contact, such as Jordan Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, and Matt Cain.

One quote from the article (added here mostly to make the word minimum, TTYTT):
Last night may have seen a taste of this new approach. He used his sinker considerably more than his four-seamer against lefties and worked the outside corner. Aside from one missed sinker that wound up a home run, Cole's appearance was largely how he describes an ideal outing. To me, that shows some maturation and a bright future.
Anyhow, lots of food for thought here. Whadda you think?
