Lots of action on Thursday.
-- Indianapolis dropped a doubleheader to Charlotte. In game one, the Indians got no-hit by Brazilian Andre Rienzo and lost, 1-0. Stolmy Pimentel threw a complete game, six innings in this case, allowing six hits, walking none and striking out three. He threw 54 of 79 pitches for strikes. Chase d'Arnaud made his return from the disabled list and went 0-2 with a walk.
Indy lost game two, 5-4. Brandon Cumpton also went six innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on nine hits. Andrew Lambo hit his 11th HR and Alex Presley, Ivan De Jesus, Jr., and Darren Ford all went 2-3. Presley had a double and De Jesus had two. Tony Sanchez went 1-2 with a walk.
-- Altoona no-hit New Hampshire and won, 5-0. The Curve used four pitchers, with Ethan Hollingsworth going four innings, Jason Townsend three, and Jhonathan Ramos and Ryan Beckman one each. The only runners reached on a hit batsman by Hollingsworth and a walk by Ramos. Gregory Polanco (pictured) went 3-4 with a walk, a double and his third HR. Jarek Cunningham and Drew Maggi each went 3-5, Mel Rojas, Jr., and Adalberto Santos each 2-5. Alex Dickerson went 0-5.
-- Bradenton beat Brevard County, 4-2. Adrian Sampson allowed the two runs on seven hits in seven innings. He walked none and struck out seven. Tyler Waldron made his return from the DL, throwing a 1-2-3 9th for the save and striking out two. Alen Hanson went 1-4, Stetson Allie 0-3 with a walk.
-- West Virginia split two games with Lexington. The Power lost the continuation of a suspended game, 3-2. They were already trailing, 3-1, when the game was suspended. Ryan Hafner pitched the last four innings, allowing no runs, three hits and two walks. He struck out five. Barrett Barnes, who's now on the DL, went 2-3 before the game was suspended. Eric Wood went 2-4.
-- The Power won the regularly scheduled game, 4-3, in ten innings. Max Moroff went 2-4 with a walk, his sixth HR and three RBIs. Jordan Steranka went 2-4, Josh Bell 0-5. Starter Clay Holmes went six innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk. He struck out ten. Moroff gave the Power a 3-1 lead in the top of the 7th, but Clario Perez blew the save in the bottom half. Cesar Lopez followed with three and third scoreless innings, striking out four.
-- Jamestown beat Batavia, 6-3. Erich Weiss went 3-4 with a double. Harold Ramirez, Michael Fransoso, Danny Collins, Jeff Roy, and Edwin Espinal all had two hits. Isaac Sanchez threw four innings, allowing one hit and two runs, one earned.
-- The GCL Pirates blew a one-run lead in the 9th, but beat the Yankees1, 4-3, in the 10th on a walkoff single by Maximo Rivera. Austin Meadows and Reese McGuire each went 2-5. Meadows had a triple and his second HR. Nick Buckner went 2-4 with a double. Adrian Grullon went three scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out five.
-- The DSL Pirates1 shut out the Rangers, 2-0. Ramon Rodriguez threw four and a third innings, allowing no runs despite walking five. Marcus Beltrez followed with three and two-thirds scoreless innings. The Pirates had only four singles.
-- The DSL Pirates2 lost to the Nationals, 2-1, in ten innings. Omar Basulto gave up one run in five innings on two hits and a walk. He struck out seven. Richard Mitchell threw three hitless innings, walking two. Stephen De La Mota had two of the Pirates' four hits.
