With the Trade Deadline approaching , and Hanson's promotion, there has been a lot of talk about prospects and who should our top prospects be ranked. I am interested to see what everyone on Bucs Dugout thinks our Top 10 should be.
Here is my list:
Taillon I feel is as close to untouchable as possible. He has dominant stuff and the intangibles to be an Ace for years for the Pirates. We could have a devastating 1-2 with Cole and Taillon
Polanco has flew through our system completely mashing the ball along the way. I view him as a potential 5-Tool player. Imagine the speed we will have in our outfield with Cutch, Marte, and Polanco.
If Hanson is able to figure out the Short Stop position, then he has the ability to be one of the best in the game by being carried by his bat.
What a great way to start your career completely mashing the rookie league. McGuire has a long way to go, but it is definitely going to be exciting to track his development. Catcher is a need in our organization, which is why he ranks above Meadows
Meadows was regarded as a Top 5 pick in this years draft, and for good reason. Meadows has the ability to play all over the outfield and his bat should be a valuable tool for him.
Glasnow has far exceeded my expectations this season, he has devastating stuff with the ability to strike out a lof of batters. He still needs to develop his secondaries more but he definitely has close to the same ceiling as Cole or Taillon. The difference is their floors are higher than Glasnow
Bell is very intriguing, he is very athletic and can hit for a ton of power, however injuries early on has hindered his top prospect status. I believe if he can stay healthy, then he can easily climb this list
Kingham is another pitcher who has exceeded my expectations this season. He has the stuff to be an effective pitcher in the big leagues as well as the body to throw a lot of innings.
Heredia could be our most intriguing prospect. He has the potential to top our list, however he has struggled the time he has played this season, which also took nearly half the season to even be ready. If it is a maturity issue then that can be fixed. There is a lot of hype around this kid, hopefully it's just not hype.
I feel that Herrera could fit into the mold of an Alen Hanson player. He has been proving above average defense (which is better than Hanson's defense) and his bat continues to develop. Herrera is another player that could quickly climb the list with a strong finish to the season
