Mariners interested in trading Taiquan Walker for Marte?

Not sure why I haven't seen this anywhere else, but it seems worth discussing.

Personally, I hadn't given any thought to trading Marte, and coming into this season I was projecting him as a major breakout candidate. Obviously that hasn't happened, but what has happened is the emergence of Josh Harrison as a guy who could conceivably step in and replace Marte until Meadows or maybe Bell is ready to jump to the majors.

I'm not saying I'm totally comfortable with that option. I'm just saying it is an option where none existed before.

And as the post's author suggests, I'd absolutely insist on Taiquan Walker as a starting point in any negotiations. The problem is, he's still more of a prospect -- albeit a blue-chipper -- at this point, whereas Marte would pay actual dividends during the balance of this season. The author also suggests the timing might not be right for this particular move, and as far as I'm concerned, that's the reason why.

Still, the possibility of adding an arm like Walker to a rotation that by next season already figures to include Cole, Taillion, Kingham, Morton and Locke (with Glasnow not far behind) isn't to be dismissed lightly.

Crazy as it sounds, I might be tempted to make a trade like that if we could follow it up with an affordable deal to reacquire Byrd or someone like that as a pennant drive addition.
