The Matt Morris Report:  7/6/14

JaCoby Jones went deep twice, but Luis Heredia didn't go deep at all. The two rookie-level affiliates were off.

-- Adam Wilk threw a complete-game, five-hit shutout as Indianapolis beat Brad Lincoln and Lehigh Valley, 4-0.  Wilk walked one and fanned four, taking 109 pitches to go nine innings.  Jaff Decker was 2-4 with a double and a triple, and Matt Hague belted his 13th HR.

-- Altoona edged Harrisburg, 6-5.  Joely Rodriguez struggled, allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits in five innings.  He walked four and struck out one.  Three relievers combined on four shutout innings.  Alen Hanson was 2-5 and Justin Howard 2-3.  Stetson Allie was 1-3.

-- Bradenton's game was suspended in the 5th inning with the Marauders leading Palm Beach, 3-1.  Orlando Castro had allowed one run on two hits through four innings.  Max Moroff was 2-3 with a double.  The game will be completed in August.

-- Luis Heredia failed to survive the 1st inning as West Virginia lost to Greensboro, 9-6.  Heredia didn't allow a hit, but walked four of the six batters he faced, one of which scored.  Three relievers weren't that much more effective and the Power ended up wasting a big game from Jones (pictured).  He went 4-5 overall, with a double in addition to his 12th and 13th HRs.  Jones has four HRs in his last three games.  Kawika Emsley-Pai hit his second HR, and he, Edwin Espinal, Adam Landecker and Francisco Diaz each had two hits.

-- Jamestown lost to State College, 5-2.  Tyler Eppler gave up three runs on six hits in five innings.  Carl Anderson was 2-3 with a triple and a walk.

-- Bristol got only three hits but beat Greeneville anyway, 4-2.  Adrian Grullon started off with two scoreless innings in which he fanned four.  Junior Lopez gave up two runs over four innings, striking out five.  Finally, Cesilio Pimentel finished with three scoreless innings.  Austin Meadows was 0-2 with a walk.  Bristol hitters fanned 14 times, four of them by Nick Buckner.
