John Jaso: Team MVP

Let me begin with a disclaimer: IF Travis Snider was on the team, he would easily be team MVP for his cooking skills, camaraderie with his fellow players, positive interactions in the community, and overall making baseball fun again. With Snider only being acquired in July though, John Jaso will be the 2017 unsung hero.

Early season: Due to David Freese's unfortunate injury suffered in spring training, Jaso will begin the season as the starting 3rd baseman, and will mash his way to a .350 batting average in April. He will get regular playing time upon Kang's return from extended spring training, as the team will want to ease Jung Ho into the system.

Mid season: Jaso continues his tear, batting .411 in June with 8 home runs, while starting 5 days a week between 1B/3B/RF. Pittsburgh is so confident in their newfound star that they deal Andrew McCutchen and Chris Stewart at the deadline to the division rival Cardinals for Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, Delvin Perez and Tommy Pham.

September: Jaso ends the season with a batting average of .336 with a career high 17 home runs. This season is an anomaly, but it comes at a great time as he leads the Bucs into the wildcard matchup against mighty Thor and the Mets at PNC Park.
