MLB has suspended Pirates shortstop prospect for 30 games for violation of the sport’s domestic violence policy.
Pirates minor league SS Ji-Hwan Bae suspended without pay for thirty games for violating the Minor League Baseball Player Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. Stems from incident in South Korea with his then-girlfriend.

Bae was recently assigned to Greensboro, where he is batting 190/292/286 through five games. It’s possible the Pirates moved Bae there shortly after the season started in anticipation of a suspension. If he’d still been assigned to one of the short-season teams when the suspension was handed down, it wouldn’t have started to run until mid-June.
