Brink tweets that everyone's favorite, Brock Holt! (even though he spells it wrong) had been moved up to the Indians. ...getting crowded, eh?
Steve Pearce involved in Little League play with Astros. You can take the player out of the Pirates, but the Pirates out of the player.
David Laurila is always good as the interviewer, and Cutch gives some thoughtful answers. Fans will certainly like his take on Pirates history and Pittsburgh.
According to MLB.com's transacation page and MLBTradeRumors, Drew Sutton has been outrighted to AAA Indianapolis. For him to be recalled, he will have to be added to the 40-man roster. The transaction is dated August 3, but Sutton has not yet played for the Indians. This move does give the team more options come September 1 when rosters can be expanded. If a 40-man space is available, Sutton could be a useful bench piece.
From Rob B. "The Pirates have filed a complaint with Major League Baseball about a call in Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. The move is pretty much only a formality; no discipline likely would be meted out, even if MLB agrees the Pirates have a legitimate gripe."
Promoted to AAA along with Kyle McPherson. UPDATE form David: Also worth nothing that Jameson Taillon was named Florida State League Pitcher-of-the-week and Rick VandenHurk was named International League Pitcher-of-the-Week. A big week to go with AJ in the National League.
Wait, what? This was a player I would have liked to see the Pirates trade for. He's a good lefty reliever, and he's under team control for two more years after this one. He also makes less than a million bucks this year. It looks like the Royals gave him up for free, which is just bizarre.
A.J. Burnett gets some richly-deserved recognition for two great starts this week.
